Anyone interested in applying for the job or apprenticeship vacancies listed on this site should be aware of the following issues arising from States of Guernsey legislation.
In order to work in Guernsey, a person must be legally housed and in possession of a "Right to Work" document. The Bailiwick of Guernsey is not a member or associate member of the European Union, so EU legislation that gives citizens of one EU country the right to live and work in another EU country does not apply to the Bailiwick. If you are living outside Guernsey or you are not in possession of a valid "Right to Work" document, before you respond to any job vacancy listed on this site you should contact:

Important Information on the Guernsey Housing Situation
As Guernsey is such a small Island and is considered to be an attractive place to live there are strict controls over the occupation of housing.
In Guernsey houses are categorised into two groups:-
Local Market
Approximately 90% of the properties in Guernsey are local market. They can only be occupied by residentially qualified persons or by non-local persons who have been granted a housing licence by the Housing Department. Some of the jobs advertised locally will have a housing licence available as part of their terms of employment. Others jobs will not and it is not possible for a non-resident to take up these positions.
Open Market
Occupation of open market housing is not controlled. There are approximately 1,600 open market properties and are generally more expensive.
If you would like more information on this matter then please see the Housing Control website at www.gov.gg/ccm/navigation/housing/housing-control/ or write to the department at the address above.
