Army Insight Course
The Army were in Guernsey from 9-15 November working with island youngsters giving them a brief insight into Army life and arranging team building exercises.
17 students from the 3 High Schools and the Grammar School spent 2 days at the Scout Headquarters at Rue Mangy learning what being in the Army entailed and taking part in physical training, survival skills, health start and weapons practice. The students camped out overnight and were given Army rations to cook with.
At the end of the course the students had a passing out parade in front of parents and were presented with certificates and prizes.
The response back from the students has been very positive with several looking at going to more specialised 5 day Insight Courses in the UK. The Army are hoping to put on a similar course in the summer for Guernsey students. If you are in school please contact your careers teacher whilst those not in education can contact the Careers Service for further details.
The Army along with the RAF, Navy and Marines will be in Guernsey for the Sigma Careers Show on the 6th and 7th January 2010 at Beau Sejour.
