With over 90 businesses and organisations attending the event it was the largest of its kind to be held in the Channel Islands and was sponsored by the Royal Bank of Canada and supported by Commerce and Employment, the Education Department and the University of Plymouth.

Locally educated Tamara Timothy from Channel Television opened the event on the Wednesday.

The Careers Show was of particular interest to people seeking employment, a change of career, returning to the island as well as undergraduates, school leavers and parents.

Besides the very interactive stands in the 9 Work Zones there was a Learning and Advice Zone for all the part time, full time and distance learning courses available both on and off island.
For those requiring professional qualification help was available in law, insurance, teaching, ICSA etc and for those seeking information on Gap Year opportunities Projects Abroad were able to advise.
The Help Zone proved to be very popular with advice from writing of CVs, Interview techniques, setting up your own business and general career advice and guidance.

The staged area gave a real buzz with activities such as 'Ready Steady Cook', Maths in a Bubble, performing artists, the Army and universities all of which were filmed onto a large screen by Channel Television.
