We have nine members of staff who are based at the Guernsey Careers Service- so here is a introduction to who they are and what they do.

Sarah Stonebridge is Head of Careers and a Careers Adviser who works with schools and post 16 students individually and in groups. Sarah also works alongside agencies to support young people in the community.
Careers Advisory Teacher Geoff Martel undertakes a variety of careers related work for the Service. Supporting staff in educational establishments, organising Careers Conventions, Higher Education Fairs and Industry Awareness programmes. Geoff's educational experience makes him an invaluable member of the team.

 

Ben Mitchell joined the team in August 2007. Ben previously worked for 11 years with Dorset Careers/Connexions across Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset.
Prior to that he worked with employers and jobseekers for 5 years with the employment service in Bournemouth.
Ben is working with young people in schools, those with special needs, supporting  unemployed young people into work or training and with local employers.

Richard Vivian began work at the Guernsey Careers Service in January 2002.  He was appointed adult guidance manager in 2007 and specifically works with those aged 21 and over.

Michele Clark is the Guernsey Work Experience Manager, her job is to co-ordinate the work experience programme between the secondary schools, the employers and the education department. Michele was previously a Visiting Officer for the Social Security Department but has also had experience as a classroom assistant at Mont Varouf and as Health Promotion Officer in the UK and Jersey.

Jackie O'Meara joined as GWex assistant in September 2009. Her role is to support Michele in the co-ordination of work experience between employers, schools and colleges.

 

Liz Mauger  joined the team as a Careers Administration  Assistant in November 2005.  Her job is to provide admin support for the Service.  This will also include maintaining the library, job vacancy enquiries and dealing with the public.

 

 

Sharon McCarthy joined the Careers Service in March 2009.  Her role is varied as she provides admin support for Ben in his role as transitions officer working with students with special education needs, GWex and Work Related Learning.
