Finished A levels, National Diploma, Certificate, apprenticeship or still at work and not sure what to do next?..........................

You are fortunate to be entering a world that has never seen so many opportunities for young people. Higher Education courses are blossoming and this gives you the choice to study a wider array of courses in a variety of quality universities.

Locally, more and more employers are recognising the value of recruiting well-skilled recruits and providing them with a training structure that will enable them to gain valuable professional qualifications.

Below is a list of your main options.

  • Higher Education
  • FE Courses
  • Jobs with training
  • Year Out
  • Resitting 'A' Levels
  • Apprenticeships
  • To make sense of those opportunities is not easy. You will need to think long and hard about your strengths and interests and, as importantly, your weaknesses. Then it’s the hard part – matching your personal desires with the many opportunities that are open to you.

The most important thing to remember when making your decision is that you are not alone! The Careers Service, teachers, family and friends are all there to help you. Events such as the Higher Education Information Day, Recruitment Fair and Careers Convention are particularly helpful in making sense of what happens next.
