14 - 19

If you are aged between 14 and 19, it is likely you will make some key decisions during this time such as:

  • subjects to take for year 10 and 11.
  • options to follow at the end of year 11.
  • what to do for your work experience.
  • if you are in Post 16 education what you will do at the end of it.

2008 Raising of the school leaving age. (ROSLA)
From September 2008, students in year 10 will no longer be able to leave school in the Easter or summer of year 10.  They will have to remain in education until the end of year 11.  This does not necessarily mean they will have to all study GCES as there are plans to consider more work-related learning opportunities.
